Health Care ProgramsChittoor District of Rayalaseema area in the State of Andhra Pradesh is the least developed and poverty stricken district in the State. 85 revenue villages and hamlets surround the Rasanapalli-Peyanapalli area and these villages are fortified by hills and hillocks on all sides. It suffers from less rainfall, any living rivers in the area, depleting underground water resources, low level of economic development activities, and remote rural character of the district rendering itself to less developmental opportunities to the youth. As there are no hospitals or clinics in the nearby villages, they need to take the sick to the neighboring towns. The people here find it very difficult to reach the sick particularly the snake bitten patients to the hospital because of the poor quality of rural roads and inadequate conveyance.
The South Asia Council for Community and Children in Crisis aims to meet the health care of people in the area through “The Devanbu and Joseph Memorial Christian Mission Hospital (DJM CMH)” and “Eleven Rural Community Health Centers” attached to the hospital.
This DJM CMH was initiated especially for the people in the rural areas who were deprived of such health care facilities to avail easy access to health care. As the very name of the Hospital indicates, it serves with Christian ethic and passion.
The Rural Community Health Centers are established to meet the health care of young children, women and elderly. Health Volunteers assist in this vital area of health. General health camps, eye camps, dental camps and geriatric care camps are conducted regularly through the rural community health centers.
